About Mensa

Today, there are more than 140,000 Mensans in 100 countries throughout the world. There are active Mensa organizations in around 50 countries, and on every continent except Antarctica.

Mensa members range in age from 2 to 106. They include engineers, homemakers, teachers, actors, athletes, students, and CEOs, and they share only one trait—high intelligence. To qualify for Mensa, they scored in the top 2 percent of the general population on an accepted standardized intelligence test.

Members have the opportunity to meet other smart people at local, regional, and national levels—including through Special Interest Groups like HELL’s M’s. They attend entertaining, intellectually stimulating events and exchange ideas with others through a variety of publications and online communities. They also work to help others through community-oriented activities and by working with the Mensa Foundation.
